RegClean is a basic yet comprehensive Registry Cleaner. An easy
download, RegClean has a nice console that is self-explanatory and
appealing to the eye. The 4 main buttons running at the console’s
top represent the software’s 4 main features/functions. Scan,
Settings, Backup, Manage/Startup. The scan, although rather slow,
covers all the basic Registry issues and the user does have a choice
to select or unselect items prior to scanning.
Referring to the Help section for help, however, is not available in
the trial download. The top-of-the-page greeting text thanks the
user for purchasing the software and refers to the setup
instructions below. Since, at this point, the user is less than 5
minutes into the trial download, one can only assume that the
greeting is some type of reverse psychology marketing strategy. The
Home Page of the RegClean website offers strange information as
well. An attribute called “Advanced Technology” is obviously a part
of the RegClean software, but several features listed – such as
“convenient automatic scheduler”, “duplicate file remover”, and
“comprehensive backup utility” – are completely absent from the
console. The Backup “utility” has no “comprehensive” options to
speak of, and the scheduler simply does not exist. Perhaps these
options are available with a full purchase, although nothing states
this fact.
To be fair, aside from conflicting information, a painfully slow
scan, and the absence of a Help Index, RegClean will no doubt remove
the bad stuff from your PC and keep it moving along clutterfree.
